Short answer
ConfirmedGrand Theft Auto VI ships in two editions and only two: Standard at $79.99 and Ultimate at $99.99 in the United States. Standard is the base single-player game. Ultimate adds vehicles, weapons, apparel and cosmetic content for the same story.
Rockstar Games announced pre-orders on 24 June 2026 and opened them the following day. That announcement is the primary source for the edition structure and the US pricing. The release date is 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you are counting down to it, the countdown page tracks the same date.
The two editions side by side
| Standard | Ultimate | |
|---|---|---|
| USD | $79.99 | $99.99 |
| EUR | €79.99 | €99.99 |
| AUD | A$129.95 | A$159.95 |
| CAD | C$109.99 | C$139.99 |
| GBP | £69.99 | £89.99 |
| Base game | Yes | Yes |
| Premium vehicles, weapons, apparel | No | Yes |
| Classic Car Collection | No | Yes |
| Four Ultimate-gated shops | No | Yes |
| Vintage Vice City Pack (pre-order or purchase before 20 Nov 2026) | Yes | Yes |
| Free month of GTA+ (digital pre-orders) | Yes | Yes |
The US prices come from Rockstar's press release, which quotes USD and nothing else. Every other row on that table is storefront-sourced: euro prices from the German and French PlayStation stores, Australian and Canadian prices from their regional listings, and the sterling figures from the UK PlayStation Store and the UK Xbox store, which list £69.99 and £89.99 independently of each other. If you have seen £64.99 and £84.99 quoted — several outlets are still circulating those — they are wrong. Currency-by-currency variation is covered in more depth in the regional pricing guide.
What the Standard Edition includes
The base game. Rockstar describes Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience, and no online mode has been announced for it. There is no announced season pass, no announced expansion, and no announced subscription release — Rockstar has said nothing about Game Pass or PS Plus in either direction, and Take-Two's only relevant statement is a general 2022 policy remark about frontline releases that does not name this game. The platforms page sets out the sourcing.

What Standard does include, if you buy in time, is the Vintage Vice City Pack. That point is covered below because it is the most frequently misread part of the whole offer.
What the Ultimate Edition includes
At the level Rockstar has confirmed, Ultimate is the base game plus premium vehicles, weapons and apparel, with content that Rockstar says is "threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia's story". That phrasing is deliberately broad and Rockstar has not defined what it excludes.
An itemised list does exist, and it is Rockstar's own. The edition comparison on rockstargames.com carries a per-item breakdown flagging each benefit as Ultimate-only or available on both tiers, which is a better source than the press coverage most inventories are copied from:
- Vehicles. A '95 Grotti Cheetah, a Dinka Enduro motorcycle, a Crest kayak, a Vapid Ganado with a retro mod kit, a Shitzu Squalo boat, and a '67 Vapid Dominator Buggy — the last of which Rockstar calls "a Mud Club monster" and stores at the Paradise Garage in Watson Bay. That is six. A separate Mud Club monster truck appears on a lot of edition round-ups, including an earlier version of this page; it does not exist, and it is the Dominator Buggy read twice.
- Weapons. Hawk & Little Morgan revolvers as an engraved his-and-hers pair with palm-tree grips, carrying "classic Vice City stylings sourced from the Vercetti Estate", plus personalised sidearms with detailed engravings — a Girardi ES9 for Jason and a Klose K17 for Lucia.
- Apparel and ink. More than 50 signature tattoos designed by the artist collective FAILE. Separately, Goodtime Gear, which Rockstar describes as a capsule collection of apparel and accessories inspired by Macca the Gator, a character from a hit TV show in the Goodtime State. Rockstar gives it no retail location, so it is not tied to any of the shops below.
- The Classic Car Collection, the abandoned project cars commissioned by Wyman, which Rockstar's per-item flags mark as Ultimate and not Standard.
- Four shops, and Rockstar is explicit that they are gated. Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305 in the Stockyard, Electric Fang Tattoo in the Stockyard and One-Eyed Willie's Mod Shop in Lake Leonida each carry the line "Only open for business with the Ultimate Edition". The PTT Youngin$ raid in Southside Vice City is flagged the same way. Rideout Customs, the other named mod shop, is not one of these — Rockstar gives it no location and no edition tag.

Once the game is out, the vehicles on that list will appear in our vehicle database with their confirmed in-game stats rather than marketing copy, and the named shop locations will be plotted on the interactive map, labelled with the edition they need.
A separate claim, that Ultimate includes two exclusive side missions, appears in MobileSyrup's Canadian pre-order coverage. It is a single-source claim and is otherwise unverified, so do not buy Ultimate on that basis alone.
Is the Vintage Vice City Pack exclusive to Ultimate?
No, and it is not strictly a pre-order exclusive either. The Vintage Vice City Pack is included with all pre-orders and with any purchase made before 20 November 2026. Buy Standard on launch day and you still get it. Physical pre-orders receive it while supplies last.
Its contents are a '55 Vapid Stanier; the Shore Court personal garage near Ocean Beach, with a weapon locker and somewhere to deposit stolen goods to be fenced; Vice City-inspired outfits and hairstyles for both protagonists; and a submachine gun carrying what Rockstar calls "an iconic weapon pattern that echoes the excess of the past". That pattern is widely described as a Tommy Vercetti reference. It is not — the Vercetti Estate line belongs to the Ultimate Edition revolvers above. Coverage of the pack is collected by Gfinity Esports. The pre-order guide covers the deadline mechanics in full.
Is there a Collector's or Special Edition?
None has been announced. That is a confirmed absence rather than a denial, which matters, because Grand Theft Auto V followed exactly this pattern: standard tiers opened in late 2012, and the Special and Collector's Editions were revealed months later in 2013. A later reveal for Grand Theft Auto VI is therefore plausible.
What is not credible is any specific figure attached to a hypothetical collector's tier. Prices circulating for one have no source behind them and should be ignored until Rockstar publishes something.
Can you upgrade from Standard to Ultimate?
Yes. A product page titled Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition Upgrade is live on the PlayStation Store, and Rockstar's own support article on platforms, editions and versions describes Standard Edition owners buying the upgrade from the PlayStation or Microsoft store once the Standard Edition has been redeemed.
Two caveats, both about terms rather than existence. No price is shown on the SKU yet, so the upgrade may or may not cost the $20 difference. And no deadline has been published, so whether the upgrade stays available indefinitely is unstated. Re-read the storefront terms before relying on either.
What this changes is the advice. The tier decision is not irreversible, so if you are undecided at the point of purchase, Standard plus a later upgrade is a real option rather than a hope.
Which edition should you buy?
The decision reduces to a single question: is $20, or the equivalent tier in your currency, worth a set of vehicles, weapons, tattoos and apparel that have no confirmed effect on the story?
Two things are worth weighing. First, none of the Ultimate content has been described as unlocking map regions, missions or endings — the reported extra side missions remain unverified. Second, Rockstar has never discounted a mainline Grand Theft Auto game at launch, so the price you see now is likely the price at launch, whichever tier you pick.
If you are buying for completion tracking, the honest answer is more complicated than it used to be on this page. The Classic Car Collection — the only confirmed collect-them-all activity in the game — is flagged by Rockstar as Ultimate content, as are four of the named shops. Nothing announced for Ultimate adds a separate additional collectible set, so Standard still covers the base game's own content. But if your reason for buying is the completion run specifically, that one flag is the strongest argument for Ultimate that exists, and it is not a cosmetic argument. Our collectibles checklists will label which edition each tracked set requires.
What both editions do not include
- No online mode. Grand Theft Auto VI is single-player at launch and no GTA VI Online has been announced.
- No subscription route. Nothing has been announced for Game Pass or PS Plus, at launch or later.
- No disc. The boxed launch release is a download code in a box. That decision has consequences for resale, lending and preservation, all of which are set out in the no-disc guide.
- No final age rating. PEGI shows Provisional 18 and the ESRB shows "Rating Pending — Likely Mature 17+", and Take-Two's press release states the game is not yet rated. The final ratings are not published.
Both editions release on 19 November 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, with pre-load opening 12 November. The PlayStation Store listing carries a PS5 Pro Enhanced designation. Everything else we track for the game sits on the Grand Theft Auto VI hub.
