Short answer
UnannouncedNo PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI has been announced. There is no release date, no system requirements, no Steam or Epic Games Store listing, and no statement from Rockstar Games acknowledging that a PC version exists or is planned. The game is confirmed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only, on 19 November 2026.
That is the whole confirmed answer. Everything below it is context — what would have to happen for a PC version to be announced, what the historical gaps were, and when we will genuinely know.
Choose your next move
The useful answer depends on whether you care most about launch-day access, playing on PC, or waiting for proof.
Play at launch
Choose a confirmed console
Plan for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S. Those are the only announced platforms for 19 November 2026.
Wait for PC
Do not plan around a date yet
No PC release window exists. Late 2027 to mid 2028 is historical arithmetic, not a schedule you can rely on.
Track the proof
Watch for one of three real signals
A direct announcement, a PC storefront page, or official system requirements would change the answer. Rumoured dates and guessed specs do not.
What is actually known
Very little, and it is worth being precise about how little.
| Question | Status |
|---|---|
| Has a PC version been announced? | No |
| Has Rockstar said a PC version is planned? | No |
| Has Rockstar said there will not be one? | No |
| Is there a Steam listing? | No |
| Is there an Epic Games Store listing? | No |
| Are there published system requirements? | No |
| Is there any dated window from Rockstar? | No |
The third row is the one people misread in both directions. Rockstar has not ruled a PC version out. It has simply never mentioned one. Silence is not a denial and it is not a confirmation — it is silence, and the honest thing to do is say so rather than convert it into whichever answer the reader wants.

Why has nothing been announced?
Rockstar has not explained the decision, so we are not going to invent a motive for it. What can be said is procedural: for a PC version to become real and dateable, some combination of the following has to happen publicly.
- A direct statement or trailer from Rockstar Games. This is how PC versions of GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 were both first confirmed.
- A storefront listing appearing. A Steam, Epic or Rockstar Store page for the PC SKU. These do not appear by accident and are typically the point at which speculation ends.
- A rating board filing for a PC SKU. Ratings are per-platform, and a PC entry appearing at a board is a meaningful signal.
- A Take-Two earnings disclosure. Publishers discuss platform expansion on earnings calls, often before marketing does.
None of the four has happened. Until one does, there is nothing to report other than the absence.
The precedent, and the arithmetic
Here is the part that every other page turns into a prediction. We are going to show the working instead and then explicitly decline to make the prediction.
These two gaps are confirmed history:
| Title | Console release | PC release | Gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Grand Theft Auto V | 17 September 2013 | 14 April 2015 | ~19 months |
| Red Dead Redemption 2 | 26 October 2018 | 5 November 2019 | ~12 months |
Two qualifications belong in the working, since showing the working is the whole method here.
The GTA V row can be measured two ways. Between the original PS3 and Xbox 360 release and the PC version the gap is 18 months and 28 days. But GTA V was also re-released on PS4 and Xbox One on 18 November 2014, and measured from that the PC gap is under five months. Which measurement is the relevant precedent depends on whether you think the PC build follows the first console release or the current-generation one, and nobody can answer that for a game with no announced re-release.
RDR2's PC launch was staggered. It arrived on the Rockstar Launcher and the Epic Games Store on 5 November 2019, with Steam following a month later on 5 December 2019. The date in the table is the first one.
Applying the table's gaps to a console release of 19 November 2026:
- 19 November 2026 + 12 months = around November 2027
- 19 November 2026 + 19 months = around June 2028
So a naive precedent-based window lands somewhere between late 2027 and mid 2028, and the GTA V re-release measurement above would pull the early end of it earlier still. PCGamesN's release coverage walks through similar reasoning.
The correct way to hold it: if a PC version is announced and lands in that window, nobody should be surprised. If it lands outside it, or never arrives, nothing has been contradicted, because no claim was made.
What a PC release would change, and what it would not
There is a reason this site exists in the shape it does. Grand Theft Auto VI is console-only at launch, which means the person playing it cannot alt-tab to a wiki. They have a controller in their hands, a paused game on the television, and — if they want a map or a checklist — a phone.
That is the entire premise behind the interactive map and the collectibles tracker being built for one-handed use on a phone in a dark room, rather than as a desktop dashboard.
A PC release would eventually change that for PC players, who can run a second window. It would change nothing for the console audience, which on 19 November 2026 is the entire audience, and which will remain the majority of it for a long time afterwards. So the answer to "should I wait for PC" is a question about how you want to play, not a question about whether this site will still be useful.
When will we genuinely know?
There are two kinds of trigger, and only one of them is scheduled.
Scheduled: Take-Two's Q1 FY2027 earnings call on 7 August 2026. Platform strategy is a normal earnings-call topic. It is not a guarantee of an answer, but it is a dated moment when one could appear.
Unscheduled: a Rockstar announcement, a storefront listing, or a ratings filing. Historically the first of these has come months after a console launch rather than before it.
Until then the correct answer is the one at the top of this page, and we will change it the moment there is something to change it to. In the meantime, the platforms page covers what is confirmed about PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the countdown tracks the dates that do exist, and the GTA 6 hub collects the rest.
